New Year Resolutions

The new year is a great opportunity to make some positive changes. This also applies to business. What are you planning for your business for 2018? At CDP, we have been in the business for 40 years, so we are sharing some of the things we have learned along the way. Here ‘s our 5 top tips for running an effective business:

1. Be realistic

Don ‘t over commit to work you simply don ‘t have enough time to do. Working this way only means that you will miss deadlines, and / or provide sub-standard work that really doesn ‘t show your potential. Organising your workload efficiently means that your clients get a better service and are more likely to stick with you.

2. Grow your network

The world is full of potential clients and customers. Make an active decision to attend regular conferences, seminars and fundraisers. Maybe start with one per quarter, and make a decision to talk at least five different people. Arm yourself with good quality business cards and promotional material. You may be surprised with the results.

3. Make time for your own business

Don ‘t let yourself become so consumed with your work that you forget to look at how your business is doing. Set aside a certain amount of time each month to focus on how well you ‘re sticking to your business plan. Having a good system that tracks your progress will help enormously.

4. Stay consistent with marketing

Take a little bit of time to ensure that you ‘re making the most of your advertising opportunities. Keep up to date with your social media presence. Pay attention to your branding and keep the theme consistent through your website and other promotional material.

5. Commit

We all have good intentions but the people who succeed are the people who commit to their plans and put them into action. Whichever resolutions you make this year, the most important thing is to actually follow through with them.
